Aha! Well, that makes sense, particularly on a GUI controlled system.
Though I'd suppose it's theoretically possible to sort on something that
isn't currently on display, it's not too sensible.
Pushing the comments field off the edge of the lister display would seem
to be the next option to use. I suppose you could have a comment of some
thirty-odd blank spaces, then your numerical sorting characters (so
they're not immediately visible).
